Red Sea Marine Life...

... is spectacular in colour, form and species diversity. With a body of water almost entirely separted from the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea is still considered part of the Indo-Pacific region, but numerous life forms developed and exist only here...

The galleries you can see here are by no means complete representations of any systematic group. They rather show a personal selection out of about 23.000 photographs I took throughout the last 5 years while working as a diveguide and biologist on liveaboards in the Egyptian Red Sea.

The Red Sea Galleries

You have the choice between nine different galleries. Corals will show a variety of soft & hard corals, including anemones and jellyfish. Both, sea slugs & snails and Marine Worms show colourful critters, that are mostly spotted at night. Crabs & Shimps, the armoured knights, are also generally nocturnal creatures, whereas most of the fishes (I = reef fish; II = predators & oddities) take shelter when the sun sets. Sharks & Rays and Marine Mammals include some of the larger pelacic species, whereas the Red Sea Wrecks open a window into history...
